H oy más que nunca necesitamos cuidar el medio ambiente. En los últimos años, el mundo empezó a preocuparse por el daño que le hemos hecho a la Tierra. El planeta comenzó a presentar problemas como respuesta a las agresiones que durante miles de años ha recibido.
Las peores han ocurrido en la últimas décadas. Si alguien creyó que sólo era sensacionalismo y publicidad, se equivoca, el calentamiento global no deja ninguna duda de que algo muy serio sucede.
Sin dejarnos llevar por el discurso fatalista, es necesario prestar atención a las señales de alerta. El mes pasado vivimos niveles de contaminación alarmante y los incendios forestales fueron un infierno para México. Esto no es normal, ni tampoco el efecto invernadero, la crisis de agua, los glaciares que se derriten, el aumento de los desiertos, el consumo desequilibrado y la destrucción de la biodiversidad.
Sabemos que los problemas globales exigen soluciones globales, pero mi pregunta hoy es: ¿qué ha hecho usted ante esta situación? El escenario mejorará cuando cada habitante cambie sus hábitos. No perdamos de vista que el planeta que habitamos es el hogar de la humanidad, y que para alcanzar un justo equilibrio entre las necesidades económicas, sociales y ambientales es necesario que cada uno sea parte de la armonía con la naturaleza.
Hoy esta armonía se concreta en una acción, una más de las miles que requiere el mundo, una que nos alegra: la Fundación que lleva mi nombre nos invita a pintar de verde los campos de Oaxaca con dos millones de árboles que hemos sembrado en los ocho viveros que hemos acondicionado para que florezcan las semillas endémicas de nuestro estado, porque esta tierra es increíble y forma parte del jardín de esperanza para las siguientes generaciones.
